Our Story
A passion for turning.
F3 Pens, formerly Fisher of Pens, started in 2011 with a trip to the wood working show and a booth setup with lathes to turn your own pen. My 8 and 10 year old boys had to try it out and I figured "what the heck, it looks like fun".
Here we are now 12 years and close to a thousand pens later taking that passion to new levels. From wooden kit pens to fully custom designed unique fountain pens in no time flat!
Crafting pens has become a family art. My wife Chrissy found that she had an artist's eye for creating pen blanks by mixing and matching raw materials into designs ranging from simple lines to full abstract. These would go on to become unique pens that set us apart from other makers.
I also elevated my skills learning advanced techniques from Jonathon Brooks of Carolina Pen Company who to this day we consider his family as part of our family. He set me on the path of using his unique hand-poured materials and we pushed each other with creations such as the Hydra double ended fountain pen and many other stand out designs. I owe much of what F3 is today to his mentorship.
In March of 2020 we officially closed the Fisher of Pens chapter of our lives. With the looming pandemic it was time to focus on our family and health. As of Feb 2021 we are starting to ramp back up with a rebranding and a fresh outlook. F3 Pens which stands for Fisher Family Fountain Pens is set to begin crafting again and we're looking forward to reconnecting with our customers, friends and family we have built over the past 10 years.
